The Murals in the Carroll House Tavern and Cooke Inn

In 1831, an itinerant artist by the name of William Price, signed and dated the murals he had painted on the walls of the Carroll House Tavern. More than 100 years later, in 1957, conservators from the Winterthur Museum would purchase the Carroll House, dismantle the mural walls and move them to their new home in the museum in Delaware.

Fast forward to the present day and a different old house/inn where almost 200 years of paint and wallpaper would be peeled back to reveal another set of amazing murals. Were these Cooke Inn murals painted by the mysterious William Price? Join us on an adventure of discovery.
